The US remains the world epicenter with nearly 290,000 deaths among 15 million COVID-19 infections . It is followed by India and Brazil.
Canada’s Quebec set a new high record on Saturday with 2,031 new cases reported a day. It is the first time that Canada has had a daily increase in confirmed cases surpassing 2,000 in a single province .
The pandemic remains complicated in Europe. 397 new coronavirus deaths have been reported in the UK in the last 24 hours and a further 15,539 cases were reported on Saturday compared to 16,298 the day before. Germany reported 17,812 new COVID-19 infected cases and additional 284 deaths.
In the Middle East, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Iran surpassed 1 million with 50,016 deaths.
In Asia, despite strengthened quarantine measures, South Korea saw the daily number of new COVID-19 cases surpass 600.
