All train services on the Kyushu Shinkansen Line and the Sanyo Shinkansen Line connecting Hiroshima and Hakata stations were cancelled. Japan’s two largest airlines – Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways – cancelled at least 100 flights. The typhoon created a massive blackout for 470,000 households living on Kyushu. Local authorities have asked civilians to evacuate or stay home during the typhoon, warning of floods and landslides.
