Halal market offers ample opportunities for Vietnamese businesses
(VOVWORLD) - The global Halal market presents significant potential in terms of population growth, purchasing power, diversity, and long-term prospects, according to a conference hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hanoi on Friday.

This rapidly expanding market is opening promising opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises, particularly in agriculture and processed foods. With a global Muslim population of approximately 2 billion—around 25% of the world’s population—demand for Halal products is on the rise. Delegates at the conference projected that the global Halal economy could reach nearly 10 trillion USD by 2028.
Vietnam’s potential to expand its Halal exports is underscored by its position among the world’s top 20 food exporters and its ranking as one of the 15 largest agricultural exporters globally. As a vital link in global supply chains, Vietnam has also signed 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), including several next-generation and inter-regional deals.
To successfully penetrate the Halal market, Vietnamese businesses must comply with strict Halal certification requirements and food safety standards while also enhancing their competitiveness, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.
“We will provide support through knowledge sharing and practical solutions. Trade officials will research market trends, connect businesses with target markets, and facilitate participation in fairs and exhibitions to help companies find partners and promote their products. We will also develop a comprehensive project for implementation,” said Deputy Minister Tan.
