(VOVworld) – A conference opened in Hanoi on Wednesday to review the 15-year implementation of the Party Central Committee resolution in building and developing an advanced Vietnamese cultural and national identity. The conference’s report said that over the past 15 years, Hanoi leads the way in launching “The people unite to build a cultural life” movement. Hanoi plans to have 85 percent of its family households nominated as cultural families by 2015. Ho Quang Loi, Head of the Education and Communication Commission of the Hanoi Party Committee, urged the city to speed up its work in preserving and upholding the nation’s traditional cultural values: “Hanoi will continue to develop its culture to uphold its position as the nation’s capital and the region’s leading cultural center. Local authorities should focus on enriching the cultural environment and consider investing in culture as an investment in sustainable development.”

To mark the occasion, Hanoi commended and awarded 75 organizations and individuals who have made great contributions to preserving and developing Vietnam’s culture.
