Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that the Party and State always pay special attention to the wellbeing of the elderly. He requested central agencies and localities to continue to consider the elderly as a "precious resource", create favorable conditions for the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to effectively implement policies to protect, care for and promote the role of the elderly.

Mr. Long also requested the Central Committee and all levels of Vietnam Association of the Elderly to build a stronger organization and better care for the elderly with disabilities, the elderly in rural, mountainous and difficult areas.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Long presented longevity gifts to centenarians in Hai Duong province and honored organizations and businesses that have made contributions to the care of the elderly.
