Hoang Sa – Truong Sa sovereignty maps on display in Khanh Hoa
(VOV) – 4 versions of ancient maps demonstrating Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are posted in Khanh Hoa province's public places.
The map “Dai Nam Nhat Thong Toan Do” (Unified Dai Nam complete map) drawn in 1834 under King Minh Mang clearly indicated the two archipelagos Hoang Sa and Van Ly Truong Sa (Truong Sa) in the East Sea were parts of Vietnam's territory. A 1838 map made by Bishop Jean Louis Taberd described that Paracel seu Cat Vang (Paracel or Cat Vang) belong to Vietnam. The Hoang Trieu Truc Tinh Dia Du Ban Do (Geological Map of the provinces of the Kingdom) issued in 1904 by the Qing Dynasty of China and Ban Do Cac Dai Khi Tuong Dong Duong (Map of meteorological stations in the Indochinese Peninsula) established by the French in 1940 showed that the Pattle meteorological observatory in Hoang Sa and the Itu Aba meteorological observatory in Truong Sa were the most important weather facilities in Indochina.
