According to the Central Steering Board of the program, after 2 years, those provinces and cities have completed 90 percent of their planning. Total investment capital for infrastructure development has reached 10 trillion VND. Nearly 26,000 kilometers of rural roads have been upgraded and 2,000 production models now follow the high-yield field model. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Board of the program, Cao Duc Phat said the Board will supplement and revise mechanisms and policies on new criteria for new rural development to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval: "The most important criteria to make the program successful is the deep concern and management of the authorities to new rural development. This work can’t be successful without the involvement of the entire political system. New rural development must be suitable to the conditions of each locality".
