(VOVworld)- Promoting both the quantity and quality of foreign investment capital to Vietnam is of great importance for the country’s economic restructure and growth model renewal.

Delegates reached the consensus at a seminar entitled “Solutions to foster and improve the quality of foreign investment capital to Vietnam” held in Hanoi on Thursday. Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh said: "Vietnam’s key task in the coming time is to restructure our economy. The government is setting up projects in which the foreign investors play a more important role. With this cooperation, we hope to have more businesses that use environmentally friendly and high technologies, have high capacities and good management skills, to churn out competitive products in both domestic and foreign markets."   
Participants shared the opinions that foreign direct investment to Vietnam has played a key role in boosting the country’s economic development and international integration over the past 25 years. However, there remain shortcomings in attracting and managing foreign investment including less investment in high-tech sectors, use of old technologies that cause environmental pollution, and incomprehensive legal regulations and investment policies. In addition, poor infrastructure also hinders foreign investment as it reduces the competitiveness of Vietnam’s investment environment.
