Sivathanu Pillai, Chief controller of Research and Development, says India successfully tested fired a submarine-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile on Wednesday and became the first country in the world that has this ability. The missile flew its complete range of over 290 kilometers. Previously, India has successfully tested BrahMos versions launched from a ship and from the ground to equip the army and navy. The BrahMos missile program is a joint venture of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and NPO Mashinostroyenia.
