International community praises positive developments in Myanmar

The international community has praised positive and practical changes in Myanmar, especially its strong commitments on political reforms, the release of thousands of prisoners, and a cease fire agreement with the ethnic armed groups. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement to the press that the United States will meet action with action and they will start the process of exchanging ambassadors with Myanmar. She applauded recent important developments in Myanmar including the release of hundreds of political prisoners on Friday.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton appreciated the Myanmar government’s decisions as courageous steps and a further confirmation that the reform course chosen by the Government of Myanmar continues.
