(VOVWORLD) - Israel has approved a plan to build 800 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank, the settlement watchdog group Peace Now reported on Sunday.

The approval, coming just before US President Donald Trump’s administration term ends on Wednesday, is designed to avoid conflict with the next US President.
The EU called the move a violation to international law and said Israel is continuing to sabotage the prospect of a two-state solution.
EU spokesperson Peter Stano said the EU once again calls on Israel to halt resettlement activities and dismantle all facilities built after March 2001.
