(VOV) – Japan’s newly appointed Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has held a press conference to announce his governance policy.

Calling the new administration a crisis breaker, Mr. Abe said his new cabinet will face a lot of big challenges. He said his government will focus on 3 policy pillars: economic revitalization, national reconstruction, and crisis management. Abe says that reviving the stagnant economy is the top priority: "Reviving the economy is an urgent task. I will establish an economic recovery agency which plays a key role in the economy and finance. The Government  will implement a bold monetary policy, a flexible fiscal policy and a growth strategy that encourages private investment".

Abe said the new Government will increase government spending to help boost the economy and end decades of deflation. Regarding diplomatic policies, Mr. Abe affirmed that boosting the US – Japan alliance is the first step in the effort to restore the diplomatic and security policy of Japan. He affirmed the government’s determination to protect Japan’s sovereignty in the tension between Japan and China over the Sensaku or Diaoyu islands.

Abe promised to improve education, ensure social welfare, and broaden the role of women.
