The event, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and humanity for today and future generations”, drew 155 heads of state and government from UN member countries, along with leaders from global and regional organizations.

In his speech, the Vietnamese top leader said the world is undergoing transformative changes of historic significance. He called on countries to strengthen solidarity, work together, take coordinated action, and enhance the role of global institutions to end wars, eliminate all forms of oppression and exploitation, create peace, build a better world, and bring happiness to humanity.

Sharing Vietnam’s vision for the future, the General Secretary and President emphasized that peace and stability serve as the foundations for building a prosperous future. Nations, especially major powers, must adhere to international law and the United Nations Charter, act responsibly and fulfill commitments to contribute to common goals, while strengthening solidarity, fostering sincerity and trust, promoting dialogue, and ending confrontation.

"We must ensure equitable development for every state, community, and individual, recognizing the diverse economic, social, and cultural conditions they may have. Every resource must be effectively unleashed, marshaled, and utilized for development according to each country's needs. We must prioritize resources where they are most needed for implementing the SDGs, with particular attention to assisting developing and less-developed countries, especially through preferential loans, transfer of advanced technologies, investment and trade facilitation, and debt relief for poor countries," said the Vietnamese top leader.

Lam called on countries to urgently create smart global governance frameworks with long term vision for science and technology while actively preventing and repelling threats to peace, sustainable development and humanity.

The Vietnamese top leader said it’s important to prioritize reforming multilateral mechanisms to ensure better representation, equity and transparency and future-readiness.
He said Vietnam welcomes the UNGA's official decision to grant additional rights and privileges of the participation to the State of Palestine from this Session onwards, adding that Vietnam reaffirms its solidarity with the State and People of Cuba and calls on the United States to lift embargoes and sanctions against Cuba and to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
