(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of Mekong countries and Japan agreed at Friday’s online Mekong-Japan Summit that the global and regional economies are facing great challenges caused by COVID-19, natural disasters, and political instability.

The leaders reiterated joint efforts for pandemic control and economic recovery, and agreed to step up connectivity.
They shared the view that economic development should go with environmental protection, the enhancement of adaptability to climate change, sustainable use and management of Mekong River water resources, digital transformation, and regional supply chain development.
