(VOVworld) - A seminar on sustainable scientific and technological development in the northwestern region opened today in Hanoi. Co-organized by the Northwestern Steering Committee and Vietnam National University, the seminar looked at the region as a key strategic area combining a number of advantages that have not yet been adequately exploited. Seminar attendees said regional policies and mechanisms should be adjust to encourage sustainable development and technology transfer to help regional enterprises create competitive products and services. Đinh Văn Cương is Deputy Head of the Committee: “We need to fully research and evaluate the region’s situation, including environment, economy, and population, to build a model of scientific and technological development, and research specific policies and mechanisms for the region. We also need to transfer technical and scientific breakthroughs suitable for the region’s human resource training.”
