Overseas Vietnamese in Ukraine urged to build united community

(VOVworld) - Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son has called upon Vietnamese expats to build a united community in local countries though living far away from the homeland.

At a meeting with overseas Vietnamese in Ukraine’s Kharkov city, Minister Son who is also vice head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission, briefed the overseas Vietnamese on the country’s socio-economic achievements over the past three years, especially in stabilizing the economy, curbing inflation and improving living standards for the poor. He also informed them of the Party and State’s future directions to develop the economy, raising Vietnam’s position in the international arena, as well as East Sea issues. The meeting was part of Minister Son’s visit to the European country. He took the occasion to present medals to overseas Vietnamese students in Kharkov who obtained outstanding results in the 2012-2013 academic year.
