(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and his spouse will pay an official visit to Malaysia from Thursday to Saturday.

The Party leader is expected to meet with the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the President of the Senate of Malaysia, as well as leaders of the largest political parties in Malaysia, Le Hoai Trung, head of Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, said.
He will deliver an important policy speech at the University of Malaya, the largest and most prestigious university in Malaysia, and hold meetings with business representatives and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia, according to Trung.
Trung said he believes that during the visit, the leaders of the two countries will have the opportunity to exchange about the international, regional and each country's situation, thereby reinforcing mutual understanding and political trust.
The visit will also create an important basis to comprehensively upgrade the relationship between the two countries, especially in areas that both countries are interested in, such as cooperation in politics, foreign affairs, and defense, security, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.
