PM Dung calls out for efforts to increase the targeted growth rate of between 5.2 and 5.7% for 2012
(VOVworld) – Vietnam has made several remarkable socio-economic achievements in the first half of this year. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated this at a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday to discuss implementing next year’s socio-economic development plan and the state budget’s investment plan for the next 3 years. PM Dung called out for society to get to grips with current difficulties, especially in capital and the deflated market, to boost production and increase the targeted growth rate at between 5.2 and 5.7% for the whole year. He directed all ministries, sectors, and provinces to promptly disburse the state capital effectively and collect all taxes the state budget is owed. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted the need to continue strengthening the macro-economy and control inflation. He said ‘We need to deal with inefficient and scattered investments and focus our capital on essential projects to boost the national economy. All public projects must be planned and approved of in terms of necessity, scale, and identifying sources of investment capital prior to starting’.

Regarding the National Target Program, the Prime Minister said the Government will make a mid-term allocation of capital to help certain provinces in difficulties. Mr. Dung also asked for the management of ODA to be tightened up.
