PM chairs national conference to assess Vietnam’s 5 years of WTO membership

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Tuesday morning chaired a national conference on assessment of the implementation of Resolution 08 by the Party Central Committee relating to major policies for rapid and sustainable economic development after Vietnam joined WTO.

Dung said the implementation has brought back positive and practical results. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of persisting with a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development. He also urged for more rapid transition of growth model through international integration. Regarding multilateral relations, Dung said, Vietnam has fulfilled most of its WTO commitments and actively participated in negotiations for important free trade agreements. In the region, Vietnam is deeply integration into the ASEAN, towards building an ASEAN economic community by 2015. The Prime Minister called for a comprehensive assessment of the implementation of Resolution 08, including targets and tasks outlined in the Government Action Program, to improve the efficiency of international integration.
