PM holds dialogue with Singaporean business leaders

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed the Vietnamese government’s sustained efforts to improve the business climate and work closely with Singaporean investors to accelerate the implementation of their projects in the country.

At a dialogue with 16 chairpersons and CEOs of leading Singapore groups and businesses on Friday, PM Phuc praised Singaporean enterprises’ plans to expand investment in the fields of Vietnam’s priorities and called on them to carry out their projects on schedule, comply with Vietnam’s laws and harmonise interests of the State, the investors and people. He briefed the corporate leaders on Vietnam’s business environment which ranked 68th out of 190 countries according to the World Bank, up 30 places as compared with 2012.  The country ranked 55th out of 137 countries in terms of competitiveness in the rankings of the Word Economic Forum, he said. He assured Vietnam’s commitment to ensure political, social and macro-economic stability, offer the most favourable business environment towards standards of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), reduce transactions costs, especially logistic and administrative expenses, and building transparent macro-economic policies.

The corporate leaders extolled Vietnam’s economic achievements and its favourable investment environment.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Phuc met with Christian Cabrol, the Vice President of the Total Asia Pacific which employs 97,000 people in more than 130 countries worldwide.
