PM urges more measures to fight measles

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday worked leaders of the ministries of health, information and communications, Hanoi’s People’s Committee, and the National Pediatrics Hospital on measures to deal with measles and to minimize its harmful effects on human health.

Prime Minister Dung said that although ministries have reported that the epidemic tends to slow the number of newly contracted people remains high. He asked the Ministry of Health to cooperate with local authorities, particularly Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city in treating measles patients to minimize the mortality rate and cross-infection. He also called for increased communications on the mass media to raise people’s awareness of immunization. He asked the Ministry of Health to support localities to stamp out the disease as soon as possible.
