(VOVworld) - The current chief of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Luhansk (LPR), Igor Plotnitsky, is leading in the LPR elections, the Republic's Central Election Commission announced on Monday.

As of now, 26.8 percent of the ballots have been counted and Plotnitsky has won 63.17 percent. His Peace for Luhansk party has gathered 69.18% of the votes. The Lugansk Economic Union is second with 24.07 percent.
Earlier, Incumbent PM Aleksandr Zakharchenko was leading in Sunday’s elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in eastern Ukraine with 81.37% of votes counted. Zakharchenko's Donetsk Republic party has gathered more than 65% of the votes.
