(VNA/VOVworld) – Syria yesterday fired artillery into the town of Akcakale in the Turkish border province of Sanliurfa killing at least 5 persons and wounding 13 others. This third attack by Syria along the Turkish border, which has seen repeated clashes between Syrian government troops and opposition fighters, resulted in casualties for the very first time. Local authorities have ordered tighter security. Last week, Turkey threatened retaliation if Syria continued shelling across the border.
