Talk on Vietnam-US people-to-people cooperation
(VOVworld) – The Vietnam-US Society held a talk on Vietnamese-American people-to-people cooperation in Hanoi on Tuesday within the framework of a Vietnam visit by a delegation from the Vietnam Veterans of America. The talk was aimed at boosting relations between the two countries to mark the 20th anniversary of normalized ties. Delegates agreed that to increase mutual trust it was essential to address the effects of war including the issue of servicemen and soldiers missing in action, unexploded bombs and mines, and the after-effects of Agent Orange/Dioxin. Marsha L.Four is Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans of America: “We both, I think, have learned much from each other and that’s also a way for greater understanding, because there are many differences between the East and West. I believe that it’s true the people-to-people conversation and work that these efforts will provide hope to our children and it’s also a very good lesson to the world in general that this kind of things can happen and grow, that former foes can be friends and work together to resolve issues on a peaceful basis and one of greater understanding.”
The Vietnam Veterans of America earlier presented Vietnam with a number of files containing information about Vietnamese soldiers who died during the war.
