Vietnam 2017 energy outlook report released

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam Energy Outlook Report 2017 incorporating updated forecasts on macro-economic growth and energy demand in Vietnam was published in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The report focuses on Denmark’s Balmorel model, an energy planning program, to create scenarios for Vietnam to develop an electricity system and renewable energy resources.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong said: “Vietnam and Denmark began energy cooperation in 2008. So far Denmark has invested about 45 million USD into Vietnamese projects to use energy more efficiently and sustainably. Vietnam Energy Outlook Report 2017 is an important cooperation outcome that orients energy development in line with economic growth, environmental protection, and energy security in Vietnam.”

The report gives policy recommendations for the development of electricity and low-carbon emission energy. It also looks into opportunities and challenges to Vietnam’s sustainable energy development and energy security.
