Vietnam announces human rights review results

(VOVworld) – The Foreign Ministry and the United Nations Development Program in Vietnam held a workshop on Wednesday in Hanoi to announce the results of Vietnam’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on human rights in the second period.

Hoang Chi Trung, Head of the Department of International Organizations at the Foreign Ministry, said that as an active and responsible member of the international community, Vietnam has fulfilled all obligations under the UPR mechanism. He said preparations for the UPR report in the second period saw the engagement of all relevant ministries and sectors, as well as the participation of concerned socio-political organizations and individuals. 

Earlier, Vietnam presented its UPR report at the 18th Session of the UN Human Rights Council UPR working group, held a open dialogue with UN members, and provided full information about human rights laws and policies in Vietnam.
