Vietnam, Bhutan to beef up bilateral cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet has proposed that Vietnam and Bhutan   expand cooperation and mutual understanding to boost bilateral relations.

Mr. Viet was speaking at a reception on Thursday for Kinzang Dorji, Bhutan’s Ambassador to Thailand and Vietnam, who is in Hanoi to present his credentials.

The Deputy Minister welcomed the increased connectivity and expansion of cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries, and said Vietnam is ready to export its agricultural products, aquatic products, agricultural machinery, electronics, and electric vehicles to Bhutan. Vietnam has many enterprises ready to invest in Bhutan in infrastructure, telecommunications, and services, he said.

Ambassador Dorji said Bhutan considers Vietnam a high-priority partner and is eager to learn from Vietnam's development experience.

He expressed his desire to see more cooperation in trade, investment, culture, education, tourism, and Buddhism, and said he is committed to promoting exchanges and connections between the two nations.

Bhutan Air plans to open a direct route between Ho Chi Minh City and Paro, Bhutan, he said, and urged the two sides to promptly sign an air service agreement to facilitate the development of the route.
