Vietnam committed to gender equality

VOVworld)-A seminar on the implementation of international commitments and laws on gender equality opened in Can Tho city today/Monday. The seminar was part of the cooperative program between the NA Committee for Social Affairs and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through a project to help the implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals on eliminating discrimination against Vietnamese women. Under the program, Vietnam aims to ensure equality between men and women in terms of opportunities, participation and beneficiary in politics, economics, cultural and social activities and contribution to national development. Vietnam is among developing nations winning high appraisal from the international community for its gender development index in comparison with other countries of the same development level in Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific regions.
