Vietnam Drama Theater's new play on Con Dao revolutionary prisoners

(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Drama Theater today held a ceremony to begin a play initiated from the image of Con Dao revolutionary prisoners who handed over the shirts to their fellows ahead of being taken to the execution grounds. Entitled ‘The prisoner’s hand-over of the shirt’, the play describes a heroic, resilient, and indomitable image of Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers detained in Con Dao Prison, widely known Hell on earth. The play is a toke of gratitude of the art troupe’s artists to the martyrs, according to the stage Director, People’s Artist Le Hung. Hung says ‘The play tells us a historical period of revolutionary soldiers who struggled in Con Dao prison. Many characters of the play are revolutionary soldiers who have become well-known nationwide. They are late Secretary General Le Duan, heroine Vo Thi Sau, Vo Anh Ninh, and Le Hong Phong’.

The play will be broadcast live on the Vietnam Television Station on the occasion of the opening ceremony of a national professional stage festival in Hue in July.
