Vietnam: East Sea disputes need to be resolved by peaceful means
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam pursues a consistent policy of settling disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, respecting diplomatic and legal processes, and contributing to peace and cooperation in the East Sea.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the statement on Saturday in response to reporters’ questions about Vietnam’s viewpoint on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Arbitral Tribunal Ruling on the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea).
Ms. Hang reaffirmed Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes in accordance with international law and Vietnam’s legal rights to waters defined in the 1982 UNCLOS.
