(VOVWORLD) - Japanese partners have recognized Vietnam’s great potential in the semiconductor industry and consider the Southeast Asian country one of its key partners in the future development of this indispensable industry.

Tanimoto Jun, Executive Vice President of Kyushu University, so stated at a workshop on semiconductor innovation and human resource development in Fukuoka, Japan, on Tuesday.
"The semiconductor industry is strategically significant. Japan is intensifying research and development in this field but cannot achieve its goals alone. As Vietnam holds great potential for semiconductor development, it has become an important partner of Japan in this industry,” he said.
The many Vietnamese students who are studying semiconductors at Kyushu University will become the core of the Japan-Vietnam semiconductor network, according to Jun.

The workshop discussed the sharing of experiences, the transfer of technology and expertise from Japan to Vietnam, and manufacturing, research, and support for the development of a high-quality workforce in the semiconductor sector in Vietnam.
"Semiconductor development serves as the technological foundation for essential manufacturing sectors. Innovation is a key factor for the development and international competitiveness of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. Cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in this field is immensely significant,” Vu Chi Mai, Vietnam’s Consul General to Fukuoka, said.
