(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded no new COVID-19 cases on Sunday morning, marking the 24th consecutive day without infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Among the total 288 patients, 241 patients were declared fully recovered. The remaining 47 cases are being treated at health facilities, of whom four tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 once and 13 negative at least twice.

Addressing the May 6 meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control , Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said Vietnam has basically brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control, though the disease remains a complex matter outside of the country. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining close management over everyone entering Vietnam, to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
