(VOVworld) – The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management, AHA, opened its 3
rd training course on natural disaster response and rescue work in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday. 16 officials from natural disaster management centers in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam attended the course.

Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN, Kazuo Sunaga, said Japan has invested in the program to train ASEAN representatives to be better prepared for natural disasters. He hoped that Japan and ASEAN countries will cooperate effectively in this field.
During the 6-month training course, the participants will undertake fact-finding tours and on-site training in previous disaster-hit areas of Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and New Zealand.
