(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a National Launching Ceremony on Friday in response to World Water Day (March 22), World Meteorological Day (March 23), and the Earth Hour 2024.

The campaign urges countries to come together in action and cooperation to safeguard water resources, take proactive measures to prevent, respond to, and diminish the risks of natural disasters, and adapt to climate change. It also aims to promote the development of green and circular economies and and to align with the global target of achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Le Cong Thanh, said: “The themes of World Water Day, World Meteorological Day, and the Earth Hour Campaign for 2024 – "Water for Peace", "Pioneering hydrometeorology to respond to climate change", and "Reducing Carbon Footprint – Towards Net Zero" respectively – are closely interconnected."
"They call for the community's attention to bolster solutions, develop plans, strategies, and actions for climate change, emphasizing the significance of water resources for global stability and prosperity. In addition, they encourage the dissemination of energy efficiency for a sustainable future for the planet and humanity as part of the journey towards Net Zero," Thanh said.
