Entitled “Green Rice for Life”, the annual event, the first time on an international scale, will gather 200 representatives from 40 countries and territories and 14 foreign media agencies.

In addition to conferences and seminars, there will be a display of rice products, local specialties, rice-based delicacies, machinery and equipment for rice production.

Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the festival will attract many domestic and foreign delegates and organizations to come to learn about rice, thereby honoring the industry and farmers who are directly engaged in rice production.

“Farmers should benefit most from rice production. We are proud that this event is organized in our locality and realize that we should have greater responsibility for this event," Thanh noted.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, at this festival the Prime Minister will officially announce the approval of a project to sustainably develop an 1-million-hectare area for high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation in association with green growth in the Mekong Delta region until 2030.
