Vietnam shares concerns about recent development in Golan Heights

(VOVWORLD) - Spokesperson for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang answered reporters’ questions on Vietnam’s stance on the US recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Speaking at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Hang said: “Vietnam shares the international community’s grave concern on recent developments regarding the status of the Golan Heights. Vietnam calls on relevant countries to take prompt action in line with UN resolutions with respect to international law and settle disputes through dialogues in the interest of sustainable peace in the Middle East and the world.”

Regarding questions on the protection of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong at a trial to be held on April 1st, Ms Hang said: “So far, the Vietnamese government has implemented protection measures for citizen Doan Thi Huong. Vietnam will continue to implement diplomatic, consular, and legal protections at the highest level to ensure citizen Doan Thi Huong be tried objectively and equally.”

According to the spokesperson, representatives of the Vietnamese diplomatic mission in Malaysia have participated in all 20 court sessions trying Doan Thi Huong. Vietnam wants to pay a consular visit to Doan Thi Huong before the trial on April 1.
