Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien told a press conference on Wednesday that Vietnam's commercial vaccine against African swine fever meets safety, efficacy, and sterility standards and immunity duration in 6 months. This successful production of a commercial vaccine against African swine fever is a historic event as it will help safeguard livestock and pork production, he said.

The vaccine’s trade name is NAVET-ASFVAC produced by NAVETCO National Veterinary Joint Stock Company. The study results and vaccine production have been carefully assessed by independent scientists and published on Vietnam’s Veterinary Magazine and global scientific magazines.

On May 17, the Agricultural Research Institute of the US Department of Agriculture sent an official letter to the Vietnam Department of Animal Health confirming that the NAVET-ASFVAC vaccine is safe and effective.
