Vietnam wishes to maintain good traditional relationship with Russia, says Party leader
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam said on Wednesday that Vietnam considers Russia one of the top priority partners in its foreign policy, adding Vietnam wishes to maintain the good traditional relationship, meeting the interests of the two peoples, and contributing to peace, cooperation and development.

Party leader Lam received Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko in Hanoi, where he urged for greater efforts to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, as 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
General Secretary Lam suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of high-level delegations; cooperate closely at multilateral forums; effectively implement the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement; identify new directions, measures and cooperation projects in national defense and security, high technology, energy, nuclear power, basic science, culture and academic arts.
The two sides need to implement bilateral agreements more effectively, review and remove existing obstacles completely, so as to expand and create breakthroughs in bilateral practical cooperation, Mr. Lam said.
Ambassador Bezdetko pledged to continue promoting close collaboration between Russian agencies and Vietnamese partners to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He went on the two countries will be determined to further their traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, friendship and development in the region and the world.
