At the meeting, General Secretary Trong said he is happy to meet again with Chinese intellectuals, officials and relatives of Chinese friends who helped Vietnam during the struggle for national independence. He expressed full confidence when meeting young people of the two countries with the intention of following in the footsteps of previous generations, bringing vitality and a bright future to Vietnam-China relations.

Trong emphasized the good traditions of friendship between Vietnam and China, saying the two peoples have given each other valuable support and assistance in the past struggle for national independence and the cause of building socialism today. He shared with friendship representatives and young generation of the two countries about the visit by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, saying that the two countries have agreed to continue to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a "Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance."

As one of the most basic and important directions of Vietnam-China cooperation is consolidating a stronger social foundation, General Secretary Trong affirmed that the two people’s age-old, deep and passionate aspirations for friendship, peace, cooperation and development is a source of great strength and a solid basis for belief in the bright future of relations between the two countries.

Xi emphasized that the Vietnam-China friendship has its foundation in the people and that youth are the future. He added the exchange and cooperation mechanisms between the people of the two sides, including cultural exchanges and exchanges between border localities, will contribute to strengthening the sentiment between the two sides and sharing a future amid the changing world.

General Secretary and President of China Xi expressed his hope that young people will be the inheritors of the China-Vietnam friendship, actively contributing to strengthening cooperation beneficial to the development of the two countries.
