Vietnam’s Cat Tien National Park included on IUCN Green List

(VOVWORLD) - Cat Tien National Park has completed the procedures needed to become the second park in Vietnam to be included on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Green List.

The dossier of Cat Tien National Park has been independently reviewed by a group of experts for consideration and certification by the IUCN in 2024. The IUCN Green List is a global initiative for successful nature conservation.

Cat Tien registered for the green list in September 2018, and was approved in 2020. The dossiers began to be compiled in 2020. To achieve the criteria, the Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation Project has supported in staff training, website building, and threat assessment in the Ramsa Bau Sau area. 

Covering more than 82,000 hectare, Cat Tien National Park was established in 1978 in the provinces of Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Binh Phuoc. It is a rich biodiversity site in Vietnam with more than 1,600 species of flora and around 1,730 species of fauna.
