Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh has affirmed that the visit by the Cuban Deputy Minister of Revolutionary Armed Forces will contribute to improving the bilateral relations and defense cooperation between the two countries. General Thanh made the remark at a reception for the visiting Senior Lieutenant General Joaquin Quintas Sola, in Hanoi yesterday. Thanh noted that Vietnam’s military policy is of peace and self-defence, adding that Vietnam does not join any military alliance organisation, allows foreign countries to establish military base or use its territory against other countries.

In return, Sola informed the host of the outcomes of his talks with Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh where they discussed measures to further promote friendship and defence cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, for the benefit of the two peoples, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
