According to its January 2021 Global Economic Prospects, Vietnam and Malaysia are expected to grow 6.7%, the highest in the region. Indonesia – the biggest Southeast Asian economy – will see 4.4% growth. The Philippines will register an economic growth of 5.9%, Thailand 4%, and Myanmar 2%, despite being ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite its optimistic forecast, World Bank warned of a fragile recovery, if there is a prolonged pandemic and poor access to vaccines.
