WHO warns emergency faced by Lebanon health system
(VOVWORLD) - The World Health Organization chief on Tuesday warned that Lebanon’s health system was struggling with the influx of injured patients, after Israel escalated airstrikes and launched ground raids into the country.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Lebanon’s health system has been weakened by successive crises and is struggling to cope with the immense needs, adding that WHO was scaling up its response.
Amid the escalating tensions, Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali met with the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Hussein Akbari, to discuss ways of cooperation to provide support to Lebanese refugees.
At the meeting, al-Jalali pointed out that the Syrian government is working to ensure everything necessary for Lebanese arrivals and is amending some procedures to facilitate their reception.
He insisted that Syria is ready to welcome any initiative that helps Lebanese refugees.
Nine Turkish non-governmental organizations announced Wednesday their plan to dispatch a humanitarian aid shipment to Lebanon.
The first shipment will carry about 80 containers containing 1,300 tons of humanitarian aid and is expected to arrive in Lebanon within a week.
