Phu Thien district’s Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has 290 students from grade 6 to grade 9. They are mainly from the Jrai and Bana ethnic groups, but a number of them are Tay, Nung, or Thai.
Principal Rcom Khiem said the well-equipped school includes a spacious campus and dormitory, a sports area, and other facilities.
“The students receive State subsidies each month, while teachers adopt innovative teaching methods to support their leaning,” said the principal.
The students are given gifts and train and bus tickets to go home for Tet (Lunar New Year Festival) and other holidays.
“The school is like the children’s second home, where they consider the teachers parents and their classmates brothers and sisters. They are taught both academic subjects and life skills. Teaching equipment, such as smart TVs, allows the children to access online learning,” teacher Siu H'Lem said.
