A press conference on the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Truong Bon victory.

It was announced at a press conference on Friday by Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper and Nghe An provincial People’s Committee. The event aims to honor revolution contributors, and educate the youth about patriotism and their responsibilities in present society.

The program will take place next Thursday night at the Truong Bon historical relic site with Party and State leaders and locals in attendance. 25 saving books will be presented to relatives of war martyrs and former young volunteers who contributed to Truong Bon victory. Gifts will also be given to the management board of the Truong Bon historical relic site and the Nghe An provincial Study Encouragement Fund.

Thai Thanh Quy, Chairman of Nghe An province People’s Committee, said a song writing contest, as well as youth camps, and exhibitions will be held on the theme of Truong Bon: “We will organize various activities to recall the spirit of the Truong Bon victory. At youth camps, memorial items and photos will be on display”.

Truong Bon played a role of strategic importance as a life-line, a road along which foodstuffs and weapons were transported from the southernmost reaches of the North to the front in the South during the anti US war of resistance.
