(VOVworld) – Lights will be turned off from 8:30 to 9:30 PM on March 19 to mark Earth Hour 2016. Electric lights and advertisement boards in downtown Hanoi will be switched off. On Friday, My Tho city in Tien Giang province launched a power saving festival, which included a workshop on energy conservation and street marches to encourage power saving.
Nguyen Phuoc Duc, Deputy Director of Electricity of Vietnam, southern region, said: “People’s awareness of power saving has increased. Many households have begun to use power-saving appliances. Businesses have shifted to using electricity during off-peak hours.”
A launch of Earth Hour 2016 was held in Vinh city, involving more than 1,000 young people and youth union members.
