(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences hosted a conference on the historic victory of the General Uprising and Offensive in 1975 which liberated Vietnam’s south and reunited the nation.
Delegates heard 70 speeches by scholars from the UK, Russia, France, Australia, the Republic of Korea, China, Laos, and Cambodia analyzing the significance of the triumphant victory, which opened a new chapter in Vietnam’s history of independence, freedom, reunification, and development towards socialism. They attributed the victory to the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh, and the brave sacrifices of Vietnamese soldiers and civilians.
They also looked at Vietnam’s developments during 40 years of peace, reunification, development, and global integration. Director of the Institute of History, Associate Professor, Doctor Dinh Quang Hai says:
“Vietnam has attained many achievements and steady growth rates. During 30 years of the renewal process Vietnam’s prestige and status has been elevated internationally in politics, economics, diplomacy, education, and culture. Vietnam has more potential for development in the future.”
