Activities to mark 40th anniversary of Southern liberation and national reunification
(VOVworld) – Marking the 40th anniversary of southern liberation and national unification, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan granted reporters an interview on Saturday. Mr. Nhan spoke highly of significant contributions to the struggle for national liberation by the National Front for the Liberation of Southern Vietnam.

On Sunday, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor held an exchange between members of the Workers Mobilization Committee and Trade Union staff. The Workers Mobilization Committee of Sai Gon, Cho Lon, and Gia Dinh organized uprisings of workers while the others controlled and protected their factories and companies. Vo Thanh Do is former head of the Workers Mobilization Committee in Thu Duc district: “I am so proud to have made a contribution to the struggle for national independence and reunification. I never imaged how well the factory workers would perform their tasks to lead to the victory”.
Vietnam’s arduous but glorious struggle for national independence, the climax being the victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign on April 30, 1975, was highlighted at a meeting in Tokyo on Sunday. Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung said the victory was due to the sound leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party. In the forty years since the victory, Vietnam has grown from a poor and underdeveloped country into a dynamic economy.
