(VOVWORLD) - A special art performance together with a firework display opened the Hue Festival 2018 at Ngo Mon (Noon Gate) Square in Hue imperial city on Friday night.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao said this year’s festival focuses on highlighting cultural values, especially Hue culture. Mr. Cao said the success of the event will make Hue festival city a center of culture and tourism of Vietnam: "Developing Hue into a festival city will promote the tradition, culture, and history of the ancient imperial city. This is one of our tasks to develop Hue into a heritage, cultural, ecological, and environmentally friendly urban city.”
An art program honoring Hue heritages, Vietnamese cultural tradition, and cultural exchanges was held at the opening ceremony. Themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development: Hue - One Destination, Five World Heritages”, will take place from April 27 to May 2 in Hue city and other localities of the central province.
