ILO’s Convention 98 harmonizes industrial relations
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and the International Labor Organization (ILO) held a consultation workshop for Vietnam’s draft dossier to join the Convention 98 concerning the Application of the Principles of the Right to Organise and to Bargain Collectively.
Vietnam is already a member of 21 Conventions of the ILO. |
Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep said the Convention 98 protects workers and Trade Unions from discrimination, interference, and manipulation by employers. "As Vietnam has integrated deeply in the world and joined many new generation FTAs, ILO’s Conventions, including the Convention 98, plays a crucial role. Vietnam plans to take part in the Convention 98 from now to 2020 because it matches Vietnam’s global integration orientation,” Mr. Diep said.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs will collect public opinions on the Convention membership dossier before submitting it to the National Assembly for approval.
